Systematics team in pursuit of fitness and contributing to good causes

Jade Britton, Data Analyst

Jade started with us nearly a year and half ago, and we are pleased to see that Jade has decided to join a running club. She said: “I looked into joining my local running club in a bid to get fit. When looking into this I saw that they were starting a course for beginners, promising to get you off the couch to running 5k in just 12 weeks. I signed up and went along to my first session not really knowing what to expect and it was brilliant! Everyone was really friendly, offered a lot of support and all the right advice for running. Earlier this month I completed the course with our ‘graduation’ 5k run along the seafront. I enjoyed every week of the course and have made some new friends along the way. I have now joined the main club and I am planning on entering some races. Running is a great way to stay fit, clear the mind and make friends. I am very glad I took the plunge!”

Christine and Manuel Bhatt

Christine and Manuel have taken up a strict fitness regime by regularly going to the gym and eating healthily in order to maintain a good balance between managing the business and their personal goals.

Their health formula is:

  • Eat unprocessed and alive foods
  • Eat less and save money
  • Weigh below average
  • Exercise, especially resistance and strength training
  • Natural fish oil
  • Extra virgin oil
  • Lots of fresh water
  • Laugh a lot and be happy

Christine stated: “It has always been a challenge juggling business and personal commitments, but it is becoming ever so important to spend time with family and friends too. In order to have a fulfilling life, a good balance needs to be accomplished. This means start doing things that mean a lot to you.”
Having achieved his personal health goals, Manuel continues to enjoy an occasional glass of fine wine with Christine and the children and keep a close eye on the family goals. As Manuel says: “everything within limits.”

A quote of wisdom from Dalai Lama

“Man sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money in order to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future. He lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

Helen Last, Data Analyst

Helen participated in the Race for Life for Cancer Research UK by completing the 5k race on 28 June 2015. Helen stated: “Events like this are vital in funding Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.”

Systematics sponsored Helen as this related to a very good cause and we were so proud when Helen completed the race.
