This year, Systematics acted as one of the select few proud sponsors of the Newsquest Essex Countywide Business Awards 2017.

The annual awards ceremony, which is always an important event in the business year for organisation in Essex, saw the best and brightest companies from south, mid and north Essex go head-to-head for a number of prestigious awards.

Systematics sponsored the New Company of the Year Award – which this year proved incredibly competitive.

Christine Bhatt, CEO at Systematics, said: “The award we sponsored this year was aimed at new start-up businesses who had begun trading within the last three years. All of the companies that applied had between one and 10 employees.

“We felt that this category was particularly important, as the team at Systematics believes strongly that budding entrepreneurs should be recognised based on the amazing things they have done in order to get their business ideas off the ground.

“When judging the category, we closely considered several aspects of each business that applied, including: how they started, their growth rate, their long-term plans and more.

“Specifically, we were looking for companies who had made significant progress since their initial inception.”

This year, the calibre of entrepreneurs who applied for this category was incredibly impressive. Christine described the quality of applications received as “tremendous” and added that sponsoring the awards this year provided Systematics with an excellent opportunity to recognise budding talent from in and around Essex and allowed us to “give something back” to the Essex community.

After much deliberation, Fabricake Sugarcraft Limited, which was founded in May 2015 by husband and wife, Michael and Hayley Wisken, was crowned as the winner of the sponsored category.

Upon presenting the award to Michael and Hayley Wisken, Christine said: “After very long and thoughtful consideration, we decided to select Fabricake as this year’s winner, because we felt that they demonstrated a slight edge over the competition in terms of their successful growth so far, and their long-term plans for the future.”
